How Delivery Attempted Became a Reality

Every film starts with an idea, and the idea for Delivery Attempted came from a real-life experience while I was working as a delivery driver.

During one delivery, a customer told me, "I wouldn't go down there if I were you." That simple statement immediately got my imagination going. My first thoughts were that there might be vicious dogs nearby or that I could be walking into a dangerous situation. As I thought more about it, another possibility crossed my mind: racism.

That moment became the foundation for Delivery Attempted.

I began developing the concept of a Black delivery driver named Jamal, portrayed by me, who unknowingly delivers to a racist household and suddenly finds himself fighting for survival. What started as a brief real-world encounter evolved into a suspenseful story that explored fear, prejudice, and the instinct to survive when faced with unimaginable danger.

Bringing Delivery Attempted to life became an important milestone in my filmmaking journey because it proved that an idea inspired by everyday life could be transformed into a completed film.

One of the most rewarding parts of the process was working with actors and collaborating with creative people who helped bring the story to the screen. The project required planning, persistence, problem-solving, and a determination to keep moving forward despite obstacles.

Like most independent productions, there were challenges along the way. Budget limitations, scheduling conflicts, and the realities of independent filmmaking required creative solutions. However, those experiences became valuable lessons that continue to influence every Cinema Goatz project in development today.

Delivery Attempted taught me that filmmaking isn't about waiting for perfect circumstances. It's about taking inspiration from the world around you, creating with the resources you have, and turning ideas into reality.
